For plumbers & heating engineers

Invoice software for plumbers and heating engineers

CIS deductions, the VAT reverse charge, a deposit for parts, and the statutory interest you can charge a slow builder. The invoicing bits of a plumbing business, sorted, so your evenings aren’t.

Your first 3 invoices are free to send, no card needed.

The bits that slow you down

Three plumbing headaches, handled

“CIS and the reverse charge take me an hour a night.”

CIS and VAT, worked out for you

Set your CIS rate once, then tick CIS on a sterling invoice and enter the labour figure. Sendinvo shows the gross total with the net amount due, and adds the reverse-charge wording when you tick it. Pay the net and the invoice settles in full.

“Homeowners want to pay there and then, not post a cheque.”

Paid on the doorstep

Connect Stripe and every invoice carries a pay link. Your customer taps it and pays by card, or straight from their bank with no card details to type, and the invoice marks itself paid before you’ve packed up the van. Sendinvo takes no platform cut, so the payment’s yours, less Stripe’s own processing fee.

How online payments work

“Builders sit on my invoice for 60, 90 days.”

Chased, then charged

Reminders escalate on their own at 1, 7, and 14 days past due unless you change them. If a sterling invoice runs overdue, Sendinvo works out the statutory interest and compensation from the base rate you keep in settings, and drafts a separate interest invoice for you to review and send.

A worked example

A boiler job, subcontracted to a builder

CIS at 20%, the reverse charge applied, and the books that balance when the net lands.

Invoice to a VAT-registered contractor
Labour £1,200.00
Boiler & parts £1,850.00
Subtotal £3,050.00
VAT (domestic reverse charge) £0.00
CIS deduction (20% on labour) −£240.00
Amount due £2,810.00

The customer accounts for the VAT to HMRC. Pay the £2,810.00 net and Sendinvo settles the invoice in full.

Questions

Good to know

Can I send photos of the job with the invoice?

Yes. Photos straight off your phone, and a short video if the job needs one, go out with the invoice email as attachments, next to the PDF, so the leak you found and the fix you fitted arrive with the bill.

Does Sendinvo handle CIS deductions?

Yes. Set your CIS rate once, 20%, 30% or 0% for gross-payment status, then tick CIS on a sterling invoice and Sendinvo takes the deduction off the labour, shows the full total with a net amount due, and adds the VAT domestic reverse charge when you tick it. When your contractor pays the net amount, the invoice settles in full.

Can I use the VAT reverse charge?

Yes. For CIS work between VAT-registered businesses, apply the domestic reverse charge and the invoice shows no VAT and carries the HMRC wording automatically. It appears as part of the CIS flow, for VAT-registered companies.

Can I take a deposit for parts?

Yes. Ask for a deposit as a percentage or a fixed amount, with its own due date, shown on the invoice with the balance. It’s available without a subscription, within your free-invoice allowance.

What if a builder pays late?

On an overdue sterling invoice to a business client, Sendinvo works out the statutory interest a commercial debt can carry, at the Bank of England base rate you keep in step plus 8%, along with the fixed compensation, and drafts a separate interest invoice in one click for you to review and send.

Spend the evening off the tools, not on the paperwork.
